Councils pay out over £100million in compensation claims in just two yearsCompact Cars, Bridgend
Local councils handed over £100million in compensation over the last 2 years, new research has discovered.
The shock data shows one local council paid out over £20,000 after a cyclist hit a pothole and was thrown off their bike in the middle of the road.
Over £8million of the hand outs were for holes in the motorways, though the true figure could be far higher as lots of councils dont list the reason for claims in any detail.
Between 2013 and 2015 local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales paid out over £104million on 42,000 compensation claims.
