VIDEO PREVIEW: THE GRAND TOUR IS COMING. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

Compact Cars, Bridgend

FANS OF Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will definitely want to book Friday November 18 off work. That’s the day the 3 former Top Gear presenters launch their new show, The Grand Tour, and, to go by first impressions, the old formula of ribbing, tyre-smoking and mucking-about looks alive and well.

A preview of the new series indicates there'll be loads of speed, includes a shootout between the so-called holy trinity of supercars, the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder — banter, as James May gets ribbed over his broken arm, and memorable locations, including Barbados, Portugal and, er....., Whitby?

The production team, led by Andy Wilman, the former executive producer for BBC Top Gear, built a set and studio in a tent — at a cost, reportedly, of a mere £2.5m.
