BMW tells rivals: get a move on with your EVs!Compact Cars, Bridgend
BMW cannot wait until Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar launch their own electric cars into the market, in the hope it will jum start an uptake in EV sales and speed up the introduction of range-increasing battery powered tech.
Having launched its initial electronic car with the i3 in 2014 (and followed shortly after with the i8 hybrid sports car), BMW find itself in the counter-intuitive situation of eagerly waiting for European rivals to catch up. Dr Ian Robertson, on the BMW board for sales and marketing, described the situation 'needing competition' as rival EVs enter production: ‘It will be a good thing for all of us. There will be increased volume, a bigger charging infrastructure, more drivers exposed to EV, more enthused customers talking about it: the more the merrier!’
